The purpose of this brief induction is to help you understand what you need to know as a helper at any of our programs or events involving children or young people under the age of 18.

Creating a Safe Environment:

Children and young people are respected and valued, irrespective of gender, age, culture, socio-economic background or ability.

Macquarie Life Church has standard policies and procedures for taking care of children, please check with your team leader and follow their instructions.

We have a culture of accountability and transparency when caring for our children. No volunteer is to be alone with a child or young person.  Conversations with a young person must be had in an open public space.

Reporting Concerns:

As well as our genuine desire to do our best to care for the wellbeing of our children, Macquarie Life Church operates in an environment with numerous legal and ethical restrictions, including mandatory reporting.

- If you have any concerns about the welfare of a child or young person, you must report it to
your leader.

- If you have any concerns about the behavior of an adult towards a child or young person, you must report it to your leader.

Reporting concerns can also be done on our website www.macquarielifechurch.com.au/leaders
